Montréal, July 21, 2006 – France’s BREZAC Artifices will present its pyrotechnical extravaganza titled “The Emergence of Man on Earth,” this Saturday, July 22, at 10 p.m. at L’International des Feux Loto-Québec presented by TELUS.

In putting together this show, the firm pulled out all the stops, starting with elaborate research into historical facts of several key eras in the saga of humankind. Each of these periods will be evoked in turn during the show, in light and sound. Very precisely executed pyrotechnical pieces will trace amazingly well-defined pictures in the sky. “You’ll easily make out a rocket blasting off, a wave breaking, and the inhabitants of a village all represented by very bright points of light,” says Dominique Brézac, the firm’s artistic designer and the son of founder Edmond Brézac.

Brézac will emphasize monochromatic effects: greens and blues will represent forests and water; red will symbolize the Roman Empire. Silver tones will evoke the grandeur of Louis XIV–era France, while whites and silvers in synergy will stand in for the Renaissance. Spectators will also recognize the Middle Ages, the Napoleonic era and the First World War, all recounted by expressive fireworks and music. Asymmetrical but well-organized effects will immediately convey the full sweep of history that the firm wishes to convey.

These fiery visuals will unfold against a start-stop soundtrack of short and medium-length segments, including musical selections that the public won’t necessarily recognize. The music, researched in large part by Frank Ambrico, artistic designer of the show, will include selections that create an atmosphere of flames and torchlight, with calmer pieces to accompany the forest and water visuals.

Brézac Artifices, founded in 1965, mapped out its local distribution network during the 1980s, eventually developing an international one by the early 1990s. Proud recipients of international prizes including first place in Cannes in 2004 and a second-place finish in Macao in 2005, the members of the Brézac team are delighted to be presenting their third entry in the Montréal International Fireworks Competition over the years, and say they greatly appreciate the structure of the event and the support of its personnel.
