Montreal, Friday, June 12, 2009 – On Saturday, Panzera will kick off the 25th anniversary celebrations for the Montreal International Fireworks Competition, the largest and most prestigious event of its kind in the world. Panzera’s show, a musical fireworks exhibition titled “Happy Anniversary,” pays tribute to all the fans who for a quarter of a century have followed this spectacular event, now known as L’International des Feux Loto-Québec presented by TELUS. The show will feature songs selected by the public a few months ago through the event’s official broadcaster, Rythme FM. Popular Quebec songs such as “Une chance qu’on s’a” by Jean-Pierre Ferland, “L’Essentiel” by Ginette Reno, and “Les étoiles filantes” by Cowboys Fringants are some of the tunes that have made it onto the playlist for the show at La Ronde. Classical music selections, including Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” and “Swan Lake,” and film music, including selections from Zorro, Les Choristes, Le Grand bleu, and Amélie, are also part of the program. Also, on Saturday evening, L’International des Feux Loto-Québec presented by TELUS will unroll the red carpet to welcome a constellation of celebrities. “Happy Anniversary” is the 26th fireworks show presented in Montreal by Panzera, which has a long track record of closing this great annual event. This year, the company plans to showcase, almost exclusively, pieces designed in its workshops in Italy. Following its show on Saturday, Panzera will dazzle crowds in Marseilles on July 14 by bathing the city’s old port, military fort, and basilica in brilliant light. Naturally, the memory of Giovanni Panzera, who was the heart and soul of the Montreal International Fireworks Competition for 15 years, is ever-present on the 25th anniversary of the event. His colleagues, Maria Grazia Gerbaudo, Pierpaolo Serafino, and Pierre Walder, who now run Panzera, believe he would be proud to see this great tradition upheld in Montreal. He would also be happy to note its increasing popularity since he considered this event an important one and a “true world summit on fireworks.” Interview excerpts with Giovanni Panzera can be heard online at http://www.internationaldesfeuxlotoquebec.com The site also lists the 18 musical selections that will be heard at La Ronde. |

Posted: Jun 12, 2009 15:02:34 Hi Paul, Thank you very much for posting the press release. I'm hoping for an overall powerful display from Panzera, while surprising us with a strong finish that will appropriately bring in the 25th anniversary! I'm still curious as to whether a gigantic "25" will light up at the beginning of the show or perhaps during or following the conclusion. It would actually be pretty cool to have a 25 present below during a chaotic finale overhead. Trav. |
