Very interesting interview Paul. Thanks. Do you know what size of caliber these studata's are expected to be averaging?

They're most often 6" - see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYA729l1AR8 for some Pirico cylindrical shells.

Odd, I thought they were most often 8"-10" shells.

After Michael Bohonos corrected my description of what shells go where on ramp 1, the 6"studatas are usually installed between the main blast shield and the shorter one, as seen here: http://montreal-fireworks.com/cgi-bin/photogen.cgi?SetupPics/ramp1-2.j pg,400,600

That's not to say they're not in 8" and 10" calibre too, but 6" is usual.

I wonder if a Malta shell type of firework will ever be set off at La Ronde. That would certainly make the show alot nicer and better.

I wonder if a Malta shell type of firework will ever be set off at La Ronde. It's already been done: http://montreal-fireworks.com/cgi-bin/rep.cgi?head2003,england03,tail2 003 see part 17.

Thank you for the information, Paul. Sounds like another excellent display on the way for this Saturday, along with a nice and enjoyable music selection (being a 70s, 80s and 90s fanatic).

The weather forecast is currently favourable for Saturday so let’s hope that lots of people turn up in a party mood!

I am inclined to agree. The only thing to really watch for now are wind speeds as they will likely be light. Otherwise, just a touch on the cool side. More details later this evening.

Unfortunatley, I wasn't there to watch that display. I've heard Benito Pagano has a good chance of returning next year with his new firm (I believe it's still called IPON). But, I still haven't seen a break shell from Malta in a display at La Ronde.
