I was lucky enough, once again, to be invited to the Boston 4th July display, designed by Eric Tucker. Here's some photos I took:

Smoke was a bit of a problem and I couldn't get my usual slide film but they're not too bad considering.

Paul, those are excellent photos!

You must have been honored to be invited to such a festivity! If I had that privilage, I would snap all the photos I can!! How was it, anyway? Did you enjoy it a lot?

BTW, did Eric Tucker ever participate in the Mondial SAQ? The name sounds so familiar......

Regards,

Trav.

Did Eric Tucker ever compete in Montreal? Is the Pope Catholic??!! (This is what we say in England when someone asks an obvious question).

Yes, he has won 5 Gold Jupiters for US companies:
1999 Performance Pyrotechnic Associates
1998 Performance Pyrotechnic Associates
1996 Performance Pyrotechnic Associates
1994 Performance Pyrotechnic Associates
1991 Pyrotechnology Inc (I think this was Eric)

He also won Gold for Sunny International in 1992.

You can find reports for the 1999, 1998, 1996 and 1994 displays on this site under "Reports".

The display in Boston was excellent, as it was last year when I was also invited and also took photos (see under the "Photos" section of this site. By the way, I also took the pictures in the "Hull" "Budapest" and "Texas" sections, as well as Montreal 1996 and 1997.

Welllllllllll, from what I see, he has made many appearances in the past and it seems he is very popular for some U.S companies! I knew his name was familiar, now I know him and remember him in the past. He is actually quite popular here at the Mondial SAQ!!

So if Eric Tucker was involved in the 4th of July display that you were invited to, it must have been a magnificent display!!

Not fair, I want to go too.lol

Hey Paul, BTW, was there a display at La Ronde for Canada Day on July 1st? That day there were rumors going around that there was going to be something going on, and I thought I was going to miss it! Then I heard there was nothing, so I wasn't sure. I was getting pretty excited, lollol.

Please reply soon,

Trav.

No, there was no display at La Ronde on Canada day - that was simply an error in a report in The Gazette. As always, the Canada Day fireworks were shot from the Parc at Cite du Harvre, by Ampleman. I saw the display from Ile Ste Helene and it was very good.

Oh,ok.

So, you can see it from Ile Ste Helene? I'll probably go next year and check it out.

Hey Paul, just occured to me, what do you think will happen if one year the Canadian display, for the Mondial SAQ, so happened to fall on Canada Day? Would they do something special? For that matter, would any country do somthing special if they so happen to present their show on their birthday?

I don't know if I remember correctly, but is it true that one year Spain, in the Mondial SAQ, was to present their display and it happened to fall on Spain's birthday? Maybe it wasn't Spain, but I remember one display playing on their birthday, and did an impressive show.

I remember it very vaguely, but I'm not sure. All I remember is right after the third test shot for Spain, they launched a great deal of fireworks in the air, and the show was due to star in another 15 minutes, and it felt like it was starting, but I think it was a little celebration, and what a little celebration! I thought I heard the announcer on the radio say something about celebrations that year.

Do you remember it Paul? This was going back at least hmmmmmmmmmmm..........say roughly 8 years, give or take. But, then again, I could be wrong.

Please reply soon. Thx.

In 1996, Spain shot their display on the 4th July and there were some extra fireworks shot during the ceremony at the beginning to celebrate that fact.

If you read any of the reports/press releases this year you'd see that Argentina shot their display on Argentina's national day.

With Canada day being a national holiday here, there are never any displays shot in the competition on July 1st, same thing for Jean Baptiste day (24th June).

Companies who compete do get some choice of date and I doubt any from the US or France would chose to shoot around the 4th or 14th July - simply because they'd be too busy. This is why the US usually shoots well after July 4th and France well before or well after July 14th.

As for a company doing something special - they are all competing to win so, of course, are going to do something special anyway, regardless of which day they shoot.

Oh, I see now, so that's part of how the scheduling works.

They had some fireworks for Saint-Jean Baptiste Day around where I live in the West Island. It was by Pierrefonds Comprehebsive High School.

Did you see this little 15 minute display on June 24th?

BTW, you told me there were some fireworks at the park Cite Du Havre for Canada Day, right? do you know how to get there, because I plan on going next year. Oh yeah, is the display 15 minutes in duration? I think it is.

So it was wasn't Spain's birthday, it was for the 4th of July occassions. That's why they did all that neat stuff. Yes, I remember, it was in 1996. As for the Argentinian team, yes you're right, they played on their national day. I just read your report on it, and that's why they were pretty intense!

So, participating companies have some say in the day they want to present their show., I never knew that! Thx for the info, Paul. Please reply soon.

Hey Paul,

I was taking another quick glimpse at the Boston July 4th pics of the fireworks and I must say, it looked like a good show indeed!

BTW, those are some great shots!
