Thx again, Enkil. You really are keeping the competition alive!!

I guess I have some downloading to do.. I will enjoy it to the full extent!! Thx a lot.

BTW, at the end of La Ronde fireworks, or to be more specific, the ending, do you remember the time when people started to turn away? Then all of a sudden, more started coming up! But, this wasn't much of an ending, though. It seemed more like leftover fireworks.

You should have seen me, I was yelling to some people, "it isn't over!" LOOK!!!!!!!! I then thought to myself, THAT WASN'T THE FINALE???????!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought after such a magnificent, powerful and breath taking conclusion to the competition, they were going to launch an even more fearsome ending with people getting a heart attack!!lol. I was only hoping for something greater, I was filled with excitement that time!! However, nothing much happened, anyway, who cares, that was fantastic at the end, no need for me to be spoilt!!!

Well, that's what I thought. So tell me what you were thinking that time, ok.

See ya!!

i remember once the big bang finished every1 started to move, on pont Jacque Cartier, becuz usally ppl move fast, so we can arrive fast to the metro in Jean Drapeau

i told every1 its not finish, i knew it wasnt becuz the music was continuing.. althro i dont think the ending was some leftover fireworks? was it? the music was still playing at that time.. , i felt the same thing as u thought there was going to be another big bang and much stronger one, but it was more like the anstralia ending, i guess it was a nice one

anyway back to the story, once the big bang was finish, a few sec later the fireworks were back, and every1 rushed to watch, but some were just ignoring

Hey Enkil, are the video clips you put up there are all the endings for each display or just certain pieces from each? Please reply soon.

Trav.

just certain pieces from each

wouldnt be great if there were all the endings? now that would be to good to be true hehe

Posted: Aug 8, 2003 20:18:06

Oh, ok, that's fine.

Yes, that would've been spectacular if that was the case. I just love the endings!

BTW, you are correct, Enkil, about La Ronde Firewoks at the end. The music did indeed continue, and at the same time, more came up, making me think what in the world are they going to do know???!!! I thought that was the faux Finale and something better was coming up!! And yes, from where I was standing, a lot of people were turning away, falsely believing it was over.

You had told me that you didn't remember Spain all that well 2 years ago? Welllllllllll, it was very similar to the La Ronde fireworks ending with intensity, except, OMG, more powerful and intense with a faux finale and a one BIG BANG OF A REAL FINALE!!! After the faux finale, everyone started to turn away, but I heard the music still going, then everyone turned back and was frozen stiff after that finale. To tell you the truth, Enkil, I thought that their faux finale was the real thing! And I froze after the real thing. Up to this day, I still don't believe it. That's why, everytime I watch the La Ronde fieworks ending video clip,it reminds me of being there back in the competition and it reminds me of Spain.Oh, I wish you can remember.

That Spanish finale was one of the best displays since I've been coming since 1990, and the ending was superbe and fantastic. They did win in 2001, but that was their last appearance. I hope they come back next year.

Anyway, I'm going to watch the La Ronde fireworks ending again for the 100th time. Can't get enough!lol. Once again, ths a lot for the clip. I really appreciate it. Reply soon.

Just to note that the display is only over when the lights on the big wheel come on again. Otherwise, it will continue.

And, just to put to bed another myth, there are no test shots before the main fireworks start. The salutes that are fired are part of the ceremonies that take place introducing the display. See my summary of the 2002 competition for a description of the sequence used.

Yeah I know, but during the time after the ending I was waiting for the Feris Wheel to come on again, but no fireworks were coming, so I figured it was done, until I looked back.......

As for the test shots, usually for the regular displays, they shoot three test shots, and since I've been coming to the competition for 13 to 14 years, traditionally, it has been three test shots, except in recent years, the 2nd and 3rd test shots are very close together.

For La Ronde fireworks, you're right, there are no test shots prior to the display, and yes, they just shoot up some fireworks for the winners, I think. In past years for La Ronde fireworks, I think I recall some test shots beeing fired, followed by the winners and then some more test shots, usually more than the general displays, if I'm correct, but this was quite some time now, I'd say maybe 6 years at least. Now in recent years they don't really do test shots for La Ronde fireworks anymore, but I think I remember it in the past.

I like La Ronde fireworks a lot because everyone is so anxious on who will win, let alone the top three winners. I always enjoy it so much and plus there are so much people, I think near 700,000!!! That's very good.

As I said, they are not test shots! They are part of the ceremenony of the display. The first one welcomes the MC, Michel Lacroix, and the second one is fired right at the end of the national anthem of the competing team's country. Sometimes there is a third one too before the music starts for the wait until 10pm.

Hey Paul, do you remember, this is going back at least 6 to 7 years, that for La Ronde fireworks, they used to have test shots in addition to the fireworks for the ceremonies? I didn't mean this year or recent years, I'm well aware that those shots are for the ceremonies. I meant if you recall test shots being fired in the past for the final display. I could be wrong, though.

Back then, like each country, I think they shot up tests, except more than usual, and then they had the fireworks for the ceremonies.

Anyway, please reply soon, I'm eager to hear your response.

sorry for this

In response to Trav's post about "test shots" for the closing show in the past, yes, they did used to shoot more. Instead of just one salute at once, they used to shoot 3 or more at once. But, once again, there were not test shots, merely part of the ceremonie. Now they shoot actual fireworks for the same points in the ceremony.

So there really has been test shots fired in the past for La Ronde fireworks. My memory was correct. Thx for your response, Paul.

I know there wasn't no test shots for this year or in the past 3 to 4 years in the final display.

But, what are the fireworks prior to the display for? Aren't they for the three winners? As soon as I heard, on a radio next to me, that Canada won 1st, a whole series of shots were fired up, so I figured they were for the winners.

Although, I've been coming to the competition for such a long time, I'm still a little skeptical about the shots for the final display, whether they're for the winners or not, but I'm confident they're for the winners.

And another question, Paul, what are the test shots called? I think you said salutes, not sure though.

Please reply soon.

OK, this is getting tedious. As I've said many times now, they are not test shots. The salutes that are fired before a competition entry are to announce the MC and the end of the national anthem. In the past, for the closing show, they also marked the announcenment of the winners, when two or three salutes were fired. Not test shots!!!

Now during the announcement of the winners, they shoot some fireworks after each Jupiter is announced. Simple as that. No Test Shots!

Any more messages on the incorrectly named "test shots" will be deleted! You have been warned.

Oh, ok, I just needed to clear that up.

I'm sorry about that, Paul. So everything that is shot up prior to La Ronde fireworks, is not test shots, but awards for the ceremony, and it's been like that ever since the competition started, right? I get it now, thx a lot for your response, Paul.

Once again, I'm sorry, I just had to get it straightened out. Well, it's clear now, and after all these years,it finally makes sense to me for the La Ronde fireworks show!

Please reply soon,

Trav.

Oh yeah, Paul, I need to clear up something else....

You know for every country, not La Ronde fireworks, they have three test shots, right?

Well, what I want to know is, are those test shots called salutes? I just want to know, so this way, I can identify them. Thx.

BTW, don't worry about La Ronde fireworks, I understand everything that goes on before the show now.

THEY ARE NOT TEST SHOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will always remember it now! I had to clear it up after all these years. It's for the Jupiters, straight foward, huh.

Thx a lot for your patience, Paul. Please reply soon. Sorry for beeing so tedious. lol.

Take care.

The third one was posted much later and was edited as you noticed, but I'm still puzzled on how the other two got there, I must have pressed the "post a message" twice accidentaly, lol. Well whatever, once again, please delete the first 2. Thx again.
