St Steven's Day 2001, Budapest

Setup photographs

These photographs were taken of the setup on the chain-link suspension bridge over the Danube (connecting Buda in the west to Pest in the east) for the St Steven's Day fireworks display on August 20th 2001. The highlight of this 30 minute pyromusical was the huge set-piece in the shape of the Hungarian crown, in the centre of the bridge and using over 2000 coloured lances. Candles mounted on the suspension links and the pedestrian walkways were also used to great effect and required a head for heights for the pyrotechnicians setting them up. Many nautic shells were also fired from the bridge into the Danube.
